Frequently Asked Questions
- How do I load caches?
Export a GPX pocket query from Geocaching.com, then open the file on your iPhone. You can also tap the folder icon in the Waypoints tab to browse for GPX files. - Why does the app need my location?
iGeocacher uses your GPS position to calculate the distance and direction to each cache. Location is used on-device only and is never transmitted anywhere. - What is sonar?
Sonar plays audio pings at regular intervals. When you enter the proximity range of your target, a pong sound follows the ping. The closer you get, the shorter the delay between the two tones. - Can I use the app offline?
Yes. iGeocacher works entirely offline once you have loaded a GPX file. No internet connection is needed for compass navigation or sonar. - How do I create a custom waypoint?
Go to the Ad Hoc tab and enter coordinates in degrees and decimal minutes, or tap "Use Current Location" to capture your GPS position.
System Requirements
